The One-Wheel isn't for me, but I got ordered some E-Scooters

I think this is going to be a great new hobby to get into. I ordered an EMOVE Cruiser for the wife and me. It should do 50miles, as seen on many youtube long-range tests, and do approximately 25mph. Dual motor scooters look fun, and having a ton of power looks fun, but being able to ride for miles and miles is what appeals to me. And then I can bring it with me to fly-in events! No more walking or peddling a bicycle for this guy! Now I just gotta wait the 4 weeks for delivery from China! Makes me wanna build a DIY!

I wound up going with the OW, but I gotta think that all of these modern scooters are just as fun and probably inherently safer. Certainly an easier dismount. That 25mph speed is no joke! I got up to 14 on the OW yesterday and it felt fast AF.

I take it this dismount is difficult? I have zero coordination when it comes to stuff on my feet, I've never been able to skateboard, rollerblade, etc... lol. But I can do a scooter as it has handle bars! Maybe I'll get the seat upgrade too so I can drive it in the store as a "wheel chair". Bwhaha

Yeah, the self-balancing aspect of the OW is key to riding it, but it makes dismounting interesting. The front footpad is split into two pressure-sensing sides. If you lift your foot so that you are only touching one of them (like, say, lifting your heel) and slow down to < 1MPH then it is supposed to turn off, one side goes down, and you hop off. You have to kinda countersteer with your rear foot as you do it, otherwise it tries to turn. Usually it works OK, but sometimes you start rolling backwards as you shift your weight that way to slow down and the board thinks you are trying to ride.

The other option is to slow down and just jump off with both feet simultaneously, which is effective if not graceful.  Or there's a "quick stop" technique, but that's not for newbies, no matter how easy the YT videos make it look.

Sounds like you need to make a youtube video lol.
